Historical Inspiration
Lamellar armor has been used for years by civilizations across Asia, the Byzantine Empire, Eastern Europe, and the Viking world. Unlike chainmail, lamellar armor was built by lacing together hundreds of individual overlapping plates known as lamellae.
These Viking lamellar plates are based on the traditional terminal plate design used along the lower edges and skirt sections of lamellar cuirasses, helping complete armor.
These steel lamellar scales are suitable for a wide range of creative projects, like:
- Building custom lamellar armor
- Replacing damaged or missing armor plates
- Historical reenactments
- LARP events
- Renaissance fairs
- Cosplay costumes
- Museum reproductions
- DIY armor-making projects
Care Instructions
- Wipe the plates dry after use.
- Apply a light coat of oil regularly to help prevent rust.
- Store in a dry location away from moisture.
Note: Minor variations in finish are a natural due to the handcrafting process , this is a classic characteristic of handmade materials.
