Historical Inspiration
The Viking Shield Boss, or viking umbo, was the heart of the wooden shield across Viking, Germanic and medieval Europe. Set at the center of the shield, it protected the warrior’s hand and deflected incoming strikes, and many a fighter owed their life to it. Each Norse boss here echoes a different warrior culture, from the rounded dome to the tall Norse cone.
The Shield Boss: Material and Features
