This Viking Bearded Axe is inspired by the traditional Scandinavian Skeggøx, one of the most known axe styles of the Viking Age. With a distinctive extended lower blade shape, the bearded axe was valued by the Norse warriors for its versatility, control, and striking appearance.
The axe head is made from tough carbon steel and has a clean blackened finish with a cutting edge which gives a beautiful medieval look.
The famous “beard” design refers to the lower extension of the blade. This hooked lower section could be used to catch shields, control enemy weapons, or pull objects during combat. It also allowed woodworkers to grip closer to the blade for finer work.
The long handle measures approximately 30 inches and is crafted from genuine ash wood. Ash wood was highly valued because of its strength, flexibility, and natural shock absorption. The handle has a beautiful pale ash-colored look with visible natural wood grain patterns and organic variations that give every piece a unique look.
The handle provides excellent reach and leverage during handling. This bearded Viking axe works wonderfully as a historical display piece, collector’s item, reenactment prop, cosplay weapon, or Viking-themed centerpiece.
