Inspired by 14th Century Medieval Armor

During the 14th century, armorers began making separate steel knee defenses because chainmail alone could not fully protect the knee from heavy blows. These pieces, known as poleyns, became an important part of a knight’s leg armor.

This design of the Late medieval knee cops also includes large side roundels that protect the outer side of the knee. They helped reduce the risk of weapons striking the vulnerable gaps around the joint and allowed the wearer to move freely.
