The Norman Nasal Helmet is a faithful reproduction of one of the most iconic helmet designs of the 11th century. Worn by Norman knights and infantry, this helmet became legendary during the Norman Conquest of England and is depicted in the Bayeux Tapestry from the Battle of Hastings in 1066.
This medieval nasal helmet has a classic conical dome with an extended nasal guard that protects the face with even giving clear vision and breathing. This shape deflected blows from above, making it a practical and effective helmet for early medieval warfare.
Handcrafted by skilled hands, this helmet is available in 14-gauge or 16-gauge mild steel, it is durable with a manageable weight. The riveted construction increases its strength and the hand-polished steel finish gives it an authentic medieval look which is shiny and can be easily spotted.
The 14 gauge is heavier and thicker in comparison, therefore it is suitable for combat and your training events.
The 16 gauge is lighter and it is great for stage use, costume use , theatrical productions and LARP use.
Inside, the helmet has a leather suspension liner that helps distribute weight evenly across the head for better comfort. A secure leather chin strap with buckle keeps the helmet in place, making it suitable for LARP events, theatrical productions or display.
Often associated with both Norman and early Viking nasal helmet styles, this design represents a key transition in medieval head protection. Pair it with a chainmail coif to complete the look of a true Norman helmet warrior from the 11th century.
