Medieval Olmutz Helmet

Crafted from durable mild steel, this Medieval Olmutz helmet is available in both 12 gauge and 16 gauge steel to suit different levels of use. The heavy conical bowl is shaped to help deflect downward strikes, while the nasal guard protects the bridge of the nose without restricting vision. Inside, the helmet has a genuine leather suspension liner that cushions the head, distributes the helmet’s weight more evenly, and improves comfort. A matching leather chin strap with an adjustable brass buckle keeps the helmet securely in place throughout movement.

Inspired by the Historic Olmütz Helmet

The Olmütz Helmet, also known as the St Wenceslaus helmet, is one of the surviving examples of early medieval helmets. It takes its name from a famous 11th-century helmet discovered near Olomouc (historically Olmütz) in today’s Czech Republic. This style was forged from a single piece of iron, making it stronger and better at deflecting blows

This Medieval nasal helmet is suitable for SCA combat, historical combat, LARP, Renaissance fairs, Reenactments, theatre use, costume use, and historical collections.

Care & Maintenance

• Wipe clean with a soft, dry cloth after each use.
• Keep the helmet in a cool, dry place away from moisture.
• The helmet arrives lightly oiled to prevent rust during shipping and storage. Wipe away excess oil before first use.
• Apply a light coat of oil occasionally to maintain the steel finish and help prevent corrosion.
