Arm wraps, or “winigas” and “armbinders” in Norse tradition, were important Viking clothing from the 9th to 11th centuries. Archaeological finds from sites like Birka (Sweden) and Hedeby (Germany) show evidence of woolen bands and bronze pins believed to have been used as leg or arm bindings.
When warriors, farmers and travelers faced harsh northern climates, woolen wraps gave both practical warmth and protection. They kept sleeves snug during work or combat, prevented snagging on weapons or tools, and added insulation against cold air and moisture. Over tunics and under armor, they symbolized readiness, resilience, and craftsmanship.
Crafted from a 70% wool, 30% nylon blend. The wool provides natural insulation, breathability, and moisture resistance even when damp, it retains heat, making it ideal for cold climates and outdoor events.
The 30% nylon content enhances longevity and elasticity, preventing fraying and ensuring a smooth, comfortable wrap with a subtle give.
Each set includes a solid brass fibula for quick and secure fastening of the wraps without the need for modern stitching or clips. Simply wrap the band tightly around the forearm and secure the end through the fibula’s ring.
