This Medieval Talhoffer Buckler Shield is a true reproduction inspired by the famous Talhoffer Fechtbuch (Fencing Book) of the 15th century. Named after the legendary fencing master Hans Talhoffer, this buckler shows the techniques and aesthetics of historical European martial arts.
Made from 16-gauge steel, the shield is sturdy & lightweight at 1.6 kg for swift and easy defensive movement. Its holly-leaf shape and ridges which are radiating strengthen the structure with effectively deflecting blows. The conical boss in middle with a grooved cross, adds traditional look and protects the user’s hand in close combat.
The back of the buckler is painted to resist corrosion, providing long-term protection from rust and wear during training or outdoor use. A riveted steel handle is for a solid and reliable grip, and its twisted design provides both comfort and period-correct style.
Available in three striking finishes Polished, Natural (aged look) and Blackened steel, this buckler is both historically accurate with today’s craftsmanship. Ideal for HEMA practice, stage combat, or display, it reflects the spirit of medieval warfare.
