Embody the might of a medieval knight with our Sugarloaf Great Helm, a striking reproduction of one of the most iconic helmets of the late 13th and early 14th centuries. This evolution of the great helm is by its tall, pointed conical design, nicknamed the sugarloaf for its resemblance to the cone-shaped loaves of refined sugar common in the Middle Ages. The shape was not only symbolic but also practical, helping to deflect sword strikes, lances, and missiles more effectively than the earlier flat-topped helms.

Crafted from 16-gauge steel, this Sugarloaf Great Helm provides excellent protection while maintaining historical accuracy. The exterior has riveted bands and narrow eye slits for visibility and a grid of breathing holes to ensure ventilation during extended wear. The antiqued, battle-worn finish adds a rugged authenticity, making it ideal for reenactments, stage use, or display.

Inside, a quilted padded liner cushions the head and distributes weight evenly, enhancing comfort under the helmet’s solid 3 kg build. A leather chin strap with brass buckle secures the helm, so that it remains firmly in place whether you’re in a reenactment battlefield, a LARP battle, or presenting it as a collection.
