Side Lace Medieval Ankle Boots
These Ankle Boots are handcrafted from genuine leather and inspired by footwear worn across Europe during the High and Late Middle Ages. The leather has natural grain, texture, and subtle colour variations, giving every pair its own unique look.
They have a high ankle design with a practical side-lace fastening that gives a secure fit. Their pointed toe and refined shape depict the footwear styles that became popular between the 13th and 15th centuries as techniques evolved.
Historical Inspiration
These 14th century medieval boots are based on footwear commonly seen between 1200 AD and 1450 AD. Unlike earlier Viking and Anglo-Saxon shoes, which had toggles or wrapped leather thongs, later medieval shoemakers developed more side-lacing systems for better fit. The high ankle design, pointed toe, and multiple lace eyelets became defining features of medieval leather boots during this period.
The adjustable side lacing offers a secure fit, while the flat leather sole remains faithful to historical construction. These medieval style boots are not intended for prolonged use on modern hard surfaces such as concrete or gravel, as traditional leather soles were never designed for such terrain.
Our medieval footwear follows men’s sizing. Since these shoes are unisex, women are advised to use a men’s-to-women’s size conversion chart to find their best fit.
