The IngridtheShieldmaidenViking Woolen Dress captures the timeless grace and practicality of Viking-Age women’s clothing. Drawing on archaeological and textile evidence from Scandinavia and Northern Germany, this dress represents the garments worn by noblewomen, traders, and warriors’ wives during the Early Middle Ages (8th–11th centuries).
Crafted from 100% recycled wool (420 g/m²), it provides natural insulation, breath ability, and a soft drape, ideal for events, medieval fairs, and outdoor gatherings. The rich wool fabric ensures warmth even in damp or windy weather, because of which wool was widely used in the Viking world.
The best feature is the diamond twill borders made from 80% wool blend for an authentic pattern found in Viking textile fragments. Diamond twill weaves were high-status fabrics, used for decorative trims, cuffs and necklines. The geometric texture gives a contrast to the deep, wine-toned body of the dress.
The full-length cut flows naturally, for movement and elegance. The flared sleeves and neckline with contrast make it suitable for layering with aprons, belts, or jewelry, for historical customization for Norse, Anglo-Saxon, or early medieval portrayals.
The “Ingrid the Shieldmaiden” dress brings history to life.
Each piece is handcrafted by artisans dedicated to maintaining historical integrity while ensuring modern wearability. Slight variations in tone or stitching are part of its charm.
