This Lion rampant shield is made from strong 18-gauge mild steel and has a bold heraldic design with four counter-changed lions. The lions are golden on a red background and red on a golden background, which gives a contrasting striking historic look . The shield has a solid metal handle which is strong and backed with wood for easy , comfortable and firm grip and use.
The design is based on the arms linked to Owain Glyndwr, the last native Prince of Wales. They have roots back to the medieval Welsh principalities of Powys Fadog and Deheubarth. The symbol became very popular in the early 15th century when Owain Glyndwr led a rebellion against English rule. The lions mean courage, leadership, and Welsh identity.
