This Norse Belt Buckle is inspired by original Viking Age belt fittings dated between the 9th and 11th centuries. During this period, belts were symbols of status, craftsmanship, and cultural identity worn by Norse warriors, traders, and settlers across Scandinavia and Northern Europe.
The design shows the Germanic animal-style art (Style II), known for its flowing forms and interlaced motifs. Such decoration was common on Viking belt fittings found in graves and settlements, where personal accessories showed wealth and artistic skill.Â
Each buckle is made from solid bronze using the traditional lost-wax casting method. This ancient technique allows fine surface detail and strong construction. The warm antique finish highlights the carved patterns and gives the buckle an aged, historical appearance. Because of this process, every piece has natural variations, just like original finds.
The curved tongue gives a secure hold and is suitable for narrow to medium belts. With an intended belt width of 1.6 cm, this buckle works well for historical belts, tunic closures, and pouch straps. Its strength and detail make it both decorative and functional.
This Bronze belt buckle pairs well with historical outfits and leatherwork projects and complements items such as a medieval belt buckle, or traditional viking belt buckle used in LARP events and display.
