Medieval Lantern

This handcrafted medieval lantern is inspired by historical wooden candle lanterns used across medieval camps, homes, markets, and traveling routes. Made from natural wood, the lantern has a beautiful visible wood grain texture that gives every piece its own unique look. The smooth wooden surface feels soft and natural in hand with a rustic charm that perfectly suits historical settings and old-world decor.

The structure consists of a stable round wooden base plate and an upper wooden ring connected securely by six internal rods, making a cylindrical frame. Around this frame, tightly wrapped and stitched parchment paper forms the lantern body. The parchment allows candlelight to pass through softly, creating a warm golden glow instead of a harsh direct flame. This gentle diffusion of light makes the medieval candle lantern beautifully atmospheric during evening gatherings, camps, feasts, reenactment events, and rustic indoor settings.

The lantern includes a practical candle system for both function and historical simplicity. At the top is a circular opening that allows ventilation and access to the interior. Through a smaller hole passes a movable wooden stick attached to a small candle platform inside the lantern. This design allows the user to pull the stick upward to access, replace, or adjust the candle easily without disturbing the parchment covering. The stable wooden base helps the lantern remain secure on tables, floors.

A genuine leather cord is attached to the top, allowing the medieval wooden lantern to be carried comfortably by hand or hung securely while in use. The leather adds utility. This lantern works beautifully as a decorative and functional lighting piece for medieval markets, Viking camps, reenactment events, LARP gatherings, tavern decor, rustic homes, gardens, patios, or historical displays.
