Medieval Drop Spindle – Wooden Hand Spinning Tool for Wool, Yarn & Fiber Craft

For thousands of years, people used hand spindles to create strands of yarn. This Reenactment Spindle looks right at home in many historical eras. Made of wood, this spindle comes in two parts. One part is the shaft while the other is the weight wheel. This spindle is a low-whorl spindle, meaning that the weight is at the bottom when spinning. On the shaft, there is a tapered end where the wheel, also known as a whorl, slides onto. Also there is a notch to secure the beginning of the strand of yarn, not included, to the spindle. This is often done with a half-hitch knot. This reenactment spindle does not have a finish, for a natural look. It is wonderful for historical reenactments, display, or prop use.
