Medieval Dome Shield Umbo

This Dome Shield Umbo is a historically inspired center boss for your Viking and medieval shields. It is hand-forged from solid steel, for the strength, durability, and authentic appearance which is needed for historical reenactment, LARP, training, or even for display shields.

Made from thick 14-gauge steel, this umbo is made to withstand repeated use and impact while maintaining its shape. The raised dome gives the user hand clearance behind the shield which is very important and even helps in improving safety of the shield during use. These were favoured because it reinforced the shield’s center and even deflected blows away from the hand.

The umbo has a metallic polished finish on the outside for a clean, period-correct look, which can be easily spotted during use and the interior is coated to help reduce corrosion and rusting.
