Medieval Chainmail Aventail Dome Riveted Flat Ring and Alternating 9 mm

This chainmail aventail, designed to protects the throat and lower face while giving flexibility and authentic medieval style. Built for serious historical armour enthusiasts, this piece has both structural integrity and period accuracy.

Authentic Medieval Protection: The medieval aventail was traditionally attached to a bascinet helmet using vervells and a leather cord, for a flexible and protective curtain of mail around the neck and shoulders. Its purpose was to shield vulnerable gaps between helmet and torso armour.

Ring Construction: 9 mm 17 Gauge:  This riveted chainmail aventail is constructed from:

• 9 mm flat rings

• 17 gauge mild steel

• Dome riveted construction

• Alternating flat solid rings

• Traditional FOUR-IN-ONE weave

The dome-riveted rings give significantly greater strength compared to butted mail. Alternating flat solid rings reduce the risk of ring separation under strain.

Forged from 17 gauge mild steel, this aventail chainmail provides:

CARE INSTRUCTIONS:

• Wipe dry after use

• Apply light oil to prevent rust , the aventail arrives with a light coat of oil on it to prevent rust during shipping

• Store in a dry place
