Built for both form and function, this Medieval Buckler Shield is a compact yet sturdy piece of hand defense—expertly hand-forged from 16-gauge steel and finished with a rugged hammered texture. The shield’s design takes direct inspiration from 13th–16th century European fighting manuals, particularly those like Talhoffer’s, where bucklers were favored for duels, civilian self-defense.
Its round profile is ideal for quick redirection, agile footwork and single-handed use. The rolled rim adds durability and safety which is essential during stage choreography, LARP battles, or controlled sparring. At the center, a domed umbo (boss) provides extra hand protection and helps deflect direct strikes. On the reverse, the hardened wooden grip is contoured and riveted, offering both comfort and reliability during long training sessions.
Every Buckler Shield is individually made, so minor variations in shape and finish are part of its handmade character. Whether used in historical martial arts (HEMA), fantasy costume kits, or mounted in a collection or display, this shield brings a bold historical presence to any setup.
