Step into the late 14th century with this Italian Churburg Globose Breastplate, faithfully modelled on a surviving example from the famous armoury at Castel Churburg, Italy. This reproduction captures the transitional armour style that bridged the gap between earlier coat-of-plates and the fully developed cuirasses of the 15th century.
Hand-forged from 16-gauge mild steel, the globose profile disperses and deflects strikes effectively, while the one-piece design provides superior rigidity. The shallow V-shaped ridge across the chest not only reinforces the plate but also reflects the subtle decorative styling of the period.
The interior is blackened for corrosion resistance, and the adjustable leather straps allow for a customised fit over a padded gambeson or mail shirt. It offers excellent freedom of movement while maintaining full frontal protection.
Historically, breastplates of this type emerged in northern Italy during the late 14th century and were favoured for their durability in both tournament and battlefield use. This piece can be used in LARP, SCA combat, living history displays, or as a centrepiece in any medieval armour collection.

Benefit of 16-Gauge Steel
Strong enough to withstand heavy impacts while still light enough for prolonged wear, 16-gauge steel offers the perfect balance of protection and mobility for use.
Note on Craftsmanship: Each breastplate is individually hand-forged, resulting in minor variations in polish, shaping, and rivet placement.
