The Medieval Flaming Arrow head is a hand-forged iron arrowhead inspired by the famous incendiary arrows of the Middle Ages. Carefully forged, it has a durable black protective finish that helps reduce rust while giving it an authentic forged look. The open cage design is both decorative and functional, making it an excellent historical reproduction.
The hollow cage was designed to hold combustible materials before firing.
Historical Inspiration
Fire arrows were used throughout Europe during the 14th and 15th centuries. Instead of piercing heavy armour, these arrows were intended to carry fire to enemy fortifications. Soldiers filled the open metal cage with linen rags, dry grass, tow, or wood shavings soaked oil. Once lit, the arrow carried the burning material onto wooden walls, siege engines, rooftops, and supply stores to start fires.
This design is inspired by those incendiary projectiles and is also known as a fire cage arrowhead.
Uses & Applications
Perfect for collections, museums, displays, LARP, reenactments, camps, educational demonstrations, this fire basket arrowhead even makes a unique display piece.
The Medieval Flaming Arrow head is individually hand forged from solid iron, giving every piece its own look and authentic blacksmith-made appearance. The black protective finish improves corrosion resistance while preserving its rustic look.
