The Alaric Viking Diamond Twill Wool Cloak pays homage to the garments which protected travelers, warriors, and seafarers of the Early Middle Ages. Cloaks like these were very frequently used during the Viking Age (8th–11th centuries), not just for protection from the northern winds, but also as symbols of identity and prestige.
Our interpretation, the “Alaric,” captures the essence of these historic garments while meeting the expectations of modern enthusiasts and collectors. Made from 80% wool and 20% nylon blend with a fabric weight of 320 g/m², it provides insulation and breath ability of wool with the strength and durability of nylon.
The diamond twill weave, a pattern often recovered from Norse archaeological sites and early medieval textiles, makes the fabric both elegant and authentic. Its blue-black color displays the cool, stormy palette of northern Europe.
Each cloak’s edges are neatly finished in a durable double fold, for a clean, structured drape that resists fraying and enhances longevity.
Designed for flexibility, the cloak can be worn fastened with a brooch or pin over one shoulder, wrapped across both, or draped freely depending on the wearer.
Every “Alaric” cloak is handcrafted by skilled artisans therefore slight variations in weave and tone add to the authenticity and handmade charm.
