These Classic Knight’s Poleyns, crafted from 18-gauge polished steel, are faithful recreations of the knee protection worn by European knights during the height of medieval warfare. With their rounded design and reinforced flanged edges, they were specifically developed to guard the vulnerable joint where the thigh and shin armor met.

Poleyns became widespread from the 14th century onward, replacing earlier, simpler padded protections. They were essential for mobility in battle, allowing knights to kneel, ride, or maneuver on foot without sacrificing defense. Their articulated shape was crucial for deflecting downward strikes from swords or polearms during engagements.

Our reproduction features a gleaming mirror-polished finish, subtle embossed ridges for period accuracy, and reliable leather straps and buckles for a secure fit over gambeson or mail chausses.
