This Chainmail Half Hauberk is crafted from mild steel rings using a combination of round riveted rings and alternating flat solid rings, a historically accurate method used in medieval Europe. It has the classic European 4-in-1 weave, where each ring connects with four others, for flexibility with strong protection.
The chainmail is made from 9mm internal diameter rings in 18 gauge steel.
-
9mm ring size gives a tight weave that improves durability and visual look
-
18 gauge thickness gives strength without excessive weight
-
Comfortable to wear for long periods compared to heavier mail
-
Suitable for stage combat, costumes, LARP
Riveted mail was the standard form of chainmail armor. Unlike butted mail, riveted construction prevents rings from opening under stress, making it far more durable and historically correct. This method was used by knights, infantry, and soldiers across Europe.
The blackened finish offers several benefits:
-
Helps slow down surface rust
-
Reduces glare from sunlight or stage lighting
-
Gives a rugged, battle-worn look
-
Ideal for film, theatre, and historical displays
This darker tone enhances realism and makes the mail visually striking and period-correct. It works perfectly as chain mail armor , LARP , stage use etc. It is also widely used as riveted chainmail for film productions where authenticity matters.
CARE INSTRUCTIONS:
-
Keep oiled after use to maintain the blackened finish
-
Wipe clean and dry properly before storage
-
Store in a dry place away from moisture
Note: Our chainmail is handcrafted, link by link, from thousands of interlinked rings, for exceptional historical accuracy, strength, and unmistakable artistry of traditional methods.
As each piece is assembled entirely by hand, you may occasionally notice a rivet that sits slightly proud, feels subtly looser than others, or even a missing ring. Such small variations are a natural hallmark of genuine, artisan-made mail, just as in the Middle Ages, and reflect the human care invested. Any adjustment, if desired, can be easily made using basic pliers and a spare ring, preserving both integrity and historical authenticity.
