This Chainmail Aventail is designed as a protective curtain for helmets, with coverage to the neck, throat, and shoulders while allowing full movement. It is made using 9 mm 16 gauge high tensile spring steel rings in a traditional 4-in-1 weave pattern.

The aventail chainmail uses butted rings, making it lighter and more comfortable for wear. Despite being butted, the high tensile spring steel gives better strength and durability compared to standard mild steel.

A strong leather band is stitched along the edge, allowing this medieval aventail to be easily laced or riveted onto helmets such as bascinets or great helms. This ensures a secure and stable attachment during use.
