This exquisitely detailed Viking bronze buckle is a faithful homage to 10th-century Norse craftsmanship. Cast using the lost-wax technique, it replicates period-authentic openwork designs that adorned belts of warriors, merchants and seafarers . The intricate interlacing beast forms reflect the powerful Borre and Urnes styles prevalent in Viking metalwork—where serpents and mythical creatures intertwined as both ornament and protection symbol.

Bronze belt fittings of this type were common in grave finds across Scandinavia, particularly from high-status individuals. Often attached to leather belts worn over tunics or cloaks, such buckles weren’t merely functional but also proclaimed identity, allegiance and artistry. This piece, with its narrow 1.5 cm fitting width, is ideal for thinner Viking-style belts used with pouches or sword frogs.
