16 Gauge Steel Construction
This Knight Visored Bascinet Helmet is handcrafted from durable 16 gauge mild steel and finished with a polished outer for an authentic medieval look. It has a genuine leather suspension liner that distributes the helmet’s weight evenly across the head for comfort during wear. An adjustable leather chin strap provides a secure fit, while the movable visor allows you to easily raise or lower the face protection whenever needed.
Inspired by 14th Century Knightly Helmets
The 14th Century Bascinet became one of the most important helmets of medieval Europe. During the early 1300s, knights replaced the heavy great helm with the lighter and more practical bascinet. It first appeared as a simple steel skullcap worn under mail coifs before evolving into a fully enclosed combat helmet with a movable visor.
Functional Medieval Design
The tall, pointed skull of the Knight Visored Bascinet Helmet is shaped to help deflect downward sword blows away from the head. Its fully pivoting visor is mounted on sturdy side hinges and can be lifted when greater airflow or visibility is needed. Ventilation holes and narrow eye slits provide a practical balance between protection, breathing, and vision.
Suitable for Events, Combat & Collections
The Great Bascinet Helmet is suitable for historical reenactments, medieval combat, LARP, Renaissance fairs, cosplay, theatre, collectors, and display.
