This authentic Skjoldehamn Hood, is a faithful reconstruction of one of the oldest surviving medieval garment finds from Norway. Every detail is designed with history enthusiasts in mind, making this hood not just a costume, but a functional and historically accurate garment.

Crafted from 100% natural linen (220 gsm), it is lightweight, breathable, and durable, for comfort across all seasons. Linen was highly prized in the Viking Age for its strength and usefulness. Woven from the flax plant, it was one of the most common fabrics across Northern Europe. It was valued because it kept the body cool in summer, dried quickly when damp, and layered well with wool in winter. Vikings and medieval people relied on linen for underclothes, veils, hoods, and garments worn close to the skin, as it was softer and more comfortable than wool.
