Roman Military Design

The rectangular plate has a distinctive raised central boss surrounded by concentric rings, a decorative pattern related to Roman military belt fittings. Multiple plates could be attached along the leather belt to create the decorated appearance of a Roman cingulum militare.

Historical Background

The cingulum militare, or Roman military belt, was an important part of a legionary’s identity. Roman soldiers wore leather belts decorated with metal fittings. The decorated belt became a visible symbol of military status.

Easy to Attach

These Roman Cingulum Fittings are designed for attachment to suitable leather straps. Position the plates on the belt, mark the mounting points, make proper holes in the leather, then secure each plate.

Includes 3 matching solid brass Roman belt plates, for coordinated decoration.

Care Instructions:

Solid brass is rust resistant, durable and long lasting. With time and use, the brass surface naturally darkens and develops a patina, giving the fittings an aged look. For a brighter finish, gently polish with a suitable brass polish.
Due to handcrafting , variations in the details may be present.
