This Late Medieval Bascinet is a 14th-century helmet which is made for historical details, durability and comfort as well as use for combat and LARP events. Bascinets were used in Europe during the Late Middle Ages and became one of the most common helmets which was worn by knights and soldiers because of their great protection as well as a visually appealing look.
The helmet is made from 16 gauge steel, so it strong enough for combat, training and active use with a manageable weight. This thickness was generally used for battlefield helmets and gave solid head protection against impact. the components of the helmet are riveted properly to avoid any loosening and for long term use.
Brass strip of 18 gauge s rived properly on the steel surface for structural as well as a decorative appeal. Inside, the bascinet is a genuine leather liner which cushions the head and also gives comfort to the wearer for long term wear use. The liner absorbs shock, reduces pressure points, and improves the fit of the helmet. So it is suitable for long hours of wear like training sessions, stage combat, or LARP events.
Historically, bascinets were worn with or without additional armor and were paired with aventails or padding. This design gave better vision than earlier helmets, making them popular in the 14th century.

  • Wipe the steel surface with a cloth after use
  • Apply a coat of oil to the helmet time to time to prevent rust
  • Keep leather dry and condition it time to time to maintain flexibility
  • Do not store in damp places
