This Imperial Gallic helmet is a faithful reproduction of the helmets worn by Roman legionaries during the 1st century AD, in the Roman Empire. Based on examples from sites such as Mainz and Weisenau, this design shows the blend of Roman military discipline and Gallic craftsmanship.
The helmet is formed from strong 18-gauge steel, with decorative and reinforcing accents made from solid brass. The surface is polished to a bright finish and the brass trim gives visual contrast and historical character. Reinforced cheek guards, and a flared neck guard give this helmet its beautiful Gallic style.
A detachable red plume crest is included, made from a blend of natural hair and durable nylon. In Roman times, crests were used to show rank, unit identity, or for display. This feature makes the helmet suitable for both display and active use.
Inside, the helmet is fitted with a liner for comfort during long wear. Adjustable leather chin straps help keep the helmet secure, making it practical for LARP, stage use, or educational demonstrations. This imperial gallic g helmet gives an authentic Roman look while remaining wearable and functional for modern events.
The Imperial Gallic helmet developed in the 1st century AD, influenced by Celtic helmet designs adopted by the Roman army. Its deep cheek plates and extended neck guard gave good protection with better hearing and visibility than earlier Roman helmets.
