14th Century Lyre Leather Belt

Inspired by archaeological finds from 14th century England, this handcrafted 14th century lyre leather belt is made from genuine leather. It has a beautifully cast solid brass lyre buckle, elegant rosette mounts, and a long decorative chape that shows one of the most fashionable belt styles of the Late Middle Ages.

The leather is strong, supple, and comfortable to wear. Its solid brass fittings are made to last. Brass is highly durable and naturally resistant to rust, with gradually developing a rich patina through time and use.

Inspired by 14th-Century England

Dating to approximately 1360 to 1420, belts of this style were worn throughout England by knights, nobles, merchants, and members of the upper classes. They served as visible symbols of wealth, status, and refined taste.

Long belts became especially fashionable during this period. After fastening, the excess length was tied and allowed to hang elegantly below the waist.

Elegant Brass Details & Lyre Buckle

The defining feature of this 14th century medieval leather belt is its elegant cast brass lyre-shaped buckle, inspired by original medieval examples.

Running along the length of the belt are beautifully detailed rosette brass mounts, based on decorative fittings found on English medieval belts.

The belt is completed with an impressive long brass chape featuring engraved geometric decoration and a detailed terminal.

This renaissance faire belt is an excellent finishing piece for medieval clothing. It is ideal for Renaissance fairs, LARP, SCA events, theatre, displays, medieval weddings, and collectors seeking an authentic accessory.

Care Instructions

  • Wipe the leather clean with a soft dry cloth after use.
  • Apply leather conditioner occasionally to keep the leather supple.
  • Polish the brass for a brighter finish, or allow it to develop a natural antique patina.
  • Store in a cool, dry place away from prolonged moisture.

Note: Each SCA medieval belt is handcrafted from genuine leather and solid brass. Slight variations in leather grain, brass finish, and handcrafted details are natural.
