This Chainmail Hauberk is made from 10 mm internal diameter rings of 16-gauge mild steel in the traditional European 4-in-1 weave. It has long sleeves and a mid-thigh length, for a classic medieval look while being lighweight and comfortable to wear.
During the 12th to 14th centuries, chainmail hauberks were widely worn by knights and soldiers as everyday armor. While historical versions were often riveted for battle, this version is made with butted rings for a lighter and more affordable alternative.
This hauberk is made mainly for visual look and comfort rather than protection. As a hauberk chainmail piece, it is great for LARP events, stage use, medieval festivals, costumes, and educational uses. The butted rings make it easier to wear for long hours and simpler to maintain compared to riveted armor.
Because the rings are butted and not riveted, this Chainmail Hauberk is not intended for combat or impact protection. It gives the appearance and drape of historical mail hauberk and hauberk armor, while being lightweight and practical for non-combat use.
Two finishes are available to suit your needs. The blackened finish gives a darker, battle-worn look and requires less oiling. The zinc-polished finish gives a bright silver look with excellent corrosion resistance and minimal maintenance with no oiling needed.
